| The Advocacy Center for Children of Galveston County addresses the unique and complex needs of children who have been abused. The Advocacy Center operates on the fundamental belief that the best interests of the child should be paramount while an abuse case proceeds through the investigation and prosecution stages as well as after the criminal justice process has ended. Our collaborative approach seeks to eliminate a child's inadvertent re-victimization by the investigative and prosecutorial process. The Advocacy Center provides a non-threatening, child-friendly environment to help children feel safe and protected during a very difficult time. The Center assists children by coordinating the efforts of agencies involved in the investigation and prosecution of the case as well as those agencies delivering services to help the child and family recover from the physical and emotional impact of abuse. There are currently 61 Advocacy Centers in Texas, each is unique and was created to meet the specific needs of the communities they serve. Did you know...
